The layout of the Żelechów market is founded on the principle of symmetry and axiality. It is among the largest in Europe. The market's slab consists of an original natural stone pavement. It was laid in the first half of the 19th century and renovated in the inter-war period. At the time of laying the cobblestone market pavement, an ordinance came into effect, requiring each local landowner to bring a cart of stones to pay the turnpike toll to enter the city on a market day. The spatial layout of the market and adjacent building quarters is part of the register of monuments (Reg. No. A-468).
